Take a look at this new knife by Cold Steel. They have integrated the thumbscrew and wave into unified feature. Wonder how well it works.

Here, take a look:

Not as clean a design as most Emersons, I can see this unified feature migrating into other designs though. Anyone have experience with this knife?

think that has been around a while. as far as i know, it does not infringe on the wave patent. though it is very close.

the reviews i have read have been mostly good on the opening feature.

Andy has a separate patent on that thumb disc/Wave that ironically is now owned by Lynn Thompson of Cold Steel.

Yeah, I was surprised that Emerson didn't patent potential permutations of his original concept. The WAVE opening feature is so good I wonder how well it works by being a thumb stud opening feature.

Emerson's "WAVE" Patent:

Emerson's other Patent, this is the way to tell REAL EMERSONS from the clones. I don't think I've ever seen this feature mentioned in the literature.

This is most likly the AK-47's patent:

It says Andrew Demko is the inventor. Anyway it looks like a Cold Steel's AK-47 in the drawings.

Here's a variation Spyderco owns, intended to pinch, snag or rip along your opponents body potentially resulting in the knife opening. OUCH!!!

Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery...I, however, will never buy any product from Cold STEAL!!! :jerkit: :jerkit: :jerkit:

i agree with t-rev, i dont care for any of the cold steal folders though some of the fixed are "ok" for the $$ i suppose.

I will buy Cold Steel when Lynn stops wearing stretch pants! 100% nasty!

Very sorry, I misspoke, the patent is yours, the document refers to it's assignment. I have no intention to damage your standing regarding your property in any way whatsoever. Your patent is fascinating and included as an interesting opening system.

if there are any others that I missed feel free to let me know.
