I havent gotten 1 bad of piece of advice here yet ive fixed my problem of my kydex sheath scratching my bowie masking tape on the blade then heating it worked like a charm Thanks guys. Now my new problem bought the above machete a few months ago edge sucked fixed that handle was very rough fixed that . The sheath as many of you already know is worthless ive looked around and see i have few options . Kydex doesnt make sense to have a $40 sheath made for $17 machete Leather dont think it would be any cheaper Wood this might be from what ive seen the best way to go . What do you guys think any suggestions ? Thanks in advance Rich

Id go with Kydex for the heavier blades but then again you got problems down the way with the Kurkri's shape, ive found they along with Golok's are the biggest pain in the forehead to shape the kydex around after many face palms and reheats.

You could try making a multi pieced kydex sheath that will craddle the tip with a triangular section and then running from that up and along the blade say an inch thick on one side of the two sheets of kydex used. Just so long as the spine is open in the sheath it should be fine. If you use a typical two kydex pancake stack youll have nightmares drawing the tool and replacing it due to that spine area. Keeping that spine area free of kydex should eliminate the problem with those styles of choppers, then simply add the usual handle retention bits and bobs such as a nylon webbing strap with velcro stiched onto it or a button popper and your good to go. The trick is to make the chopper safe!, and when stored avoiding extra weight.
