Does anybody here own one?

I am thinking about getting one, but I would like some opinions before I spend so much money!

Yes, someone recently had a post on this. Try doing a Google search and you'll have a better chance of finding the thread. The board's search feature doesn't work too well.

What the others before me said is spot on.
HI khuks are great! You get the old world craftsmanship. A blade forged by hand, with all of the effort and heart and soul that goes with them being hand made. You can get several HI for the price of that SanMai CS. If you prefer the factory made, cookie cutter manufacture of a mass production piece like the CS, I am sure it will be a fine tool. A lot of cash for what you get though.
Plus there is such a variety of shapes and styles from HI, you can choose one for your special tastes. Here are just a couple of mine.

I've handled a san mai kukri It is far far sharper then the HI kukri's.As far a toughness goes I would go with HI's.Depends on what you are using it for chopping wood HI's, slicing and severing cold steel.I also think cs kukri's are finished better ,do you want state of the art cnc machining or hand pounded.Do you want modern technonogy or old school!!.I also would take cs kukri over HI's for sd.
