I have their Camillus made large stockman. It's a keeper for sure. Its the one I go to for serious hard work. Very durably built and crazy sharp carbon blades. I think the original Cold Steel slipjoints are destined to be classics.

the cold steel slippies in carbon 5 were great knives. i tested them on cardboard & was really impressed. i've had several stocks but my fav is the musk. one of which i keep to open mail & cut steak with. the other musk is m.i.b.these knives came ready to rock, one of the very few that you took out of the box, put in pocket & walked out the door. i keep an open eye for decent ones & are probably the only knife i would buy outside of the gecs.great, great users.

I had one of the stockmans, pretty sure it was the small. Great knife, wish I had the large though. I was looking for their Remington bullet lockback repro, part of that series, a few made it into production. Some very well made knives.

They are good, functional knives made with typical Camillus quality and good carbon steel.

They've since gone on to other homes as gifts but not because the knives were wanting.

This knife takes the finest edge of any slipjoint I own.

I'm not a fan of delrin, but I'll always have a place for this knife because the blades have such good steel.

As mentioned earlier, Camillus made these for Cold Steel; Camillus made patterns for Remington with the same same steel (0170-6 is the 'official' designation, I believe.) If you can find them, they're just as tough.

The bottom one in this pic is the one I'm talking about:

Elliott (Blues) had a picture up a while back of this one, and I've seen it a couple of times here on BF; there were several other patterns made with the same material, so if you can't find the Cold Steel patterns, maybe these would work for you too.

I had a CRKT whittler for a while and enjoyed it but I got drunk and gave it away.

Say, if you ever visit Austin, let me know. We can get a drink or something. Oh yeah, bring lots of knives, too. :D

Back to topic, was it correct that somewhere I read that the CS carbon V was pretty close to the Case CV steel?
