Im going to order a new tomahawk and id like to go coldsteel. I carry it packing/hiking so light weight is good, but I want to know what you think about the trail hawk. The cutting edge seems small for me and I want to know from someone who has used one if it loses functionality in throwing and chopping because of its size. Would I be better off going with the rifleman's hawk?

Buy the Pipe hawk, it chops like a champ w/o being unwieldy (Rifleman's) yet has enough heft to outperform (imo) the Trail hawk.

For more serious chopping I like the Rifleman better. However, I have not had as much experience using the Pipe hawk but I know many really like it.

Thanks. Ill definitely check out the pipehawk. It does seem to have the perfect combo. Plus I was assuming it actually had a hollow bowl... should have assumed coldsteel wouldn't allow that. Thanks for the advice fellas!

get the trail hawk instead of the rifleman's hawk less weight to carry on the hike and they do a good job

I'll throw in a vote for the pipe hawk too. The trail is good if you're going for light over everything else. But the Pipe seems to be the perfect compromise of everything in my opinion.

I have a Riflemans Hawk, and it does weigh a bit more but, I feel its worth the larger cutting edge than the trail hawk and more weight for chopping.
theres my vote.

With the rifleman there is the weight that has been noted but also the bottom of the cutting edge points outward, more like a pick, so there is the tendency for it to bite into wood not cut it. Personally I'd go with the frontier, but whatever you do make some mods and post some pics, its been a while since we've seen that here.
