Coleman Tents?

I have been looking for a decent tent so my girlfriend and I could do some light camping. I was at costco today and saw that they have the coleman screened 4 person evanston tent for about 60. They also have a sundome 6 person tent for about 90. I was looking for reviews on the tents but didn't find any when I went to google.

Just wondering if it's worth it to get a coleman or if there are better tents for around the same amount. Not looking to break the bank on a little weekend camping tent. Any advice is welcomed.

I'm fairly certain the tent I have is a Coleman, however... mine in the gigantic extended family size one. In full disclosure, I have only used it once... but I put it up with the assistance of a 9 year old, no beer and NOT ONE cuss word! Came down just as easy. The quality of construction seemed good. I think it should be ok for a little weekend excursion.

This will be my 3rd camping season with a large Colman tent . And as stated above , the go up and break down in minutes and the quality to price ratio is def pretty good ! For under 100 bucks I don't think you can go wrong ...

My son's boy scout troop has many Coleman tents and they get used hard with little care. We are in the process of upgrading them now with some Alps tents. Last year I took most of them home to inspect and repair. I was a little impressed with how well they were holding up given the age (I guess the average was 3-4 years) and the use/abuse they have seen. For the money I think they are a good deal. I would also give Eureka a look.

I bought my daughter a coleman sundome for her and a friend when we go camping. I have only setit up once so far and it seems solid and is easy to do.

I bought a Coleman 4 person tent last year. It is a decent light camping tent with a lot of room.

Coleman tents are great tents for the price. EASY setup and put up. practice once in your backyard and you will have it down no problem.

I have a huge Coleman for music festivals (car camping). It's about 11 years old and still going. Great value for the price.

For the price, you're not going to find anything better than a Coleman Sundome.

+1 I have one and though I've craved for the more expensive tents, there isn't anything I've done that the coleman couldn't accomplish :)

Yep, guess I will chime in and agree with everyone. There are better tents out there, but they get ALOT More expensive. I like the Coleman for camping with the kiddos and not breaking the bank.

Go for it. The Evanston 4 person is gonna be fine. Plus at 60 bux, it gets you out there camping for less $$. And that's the point right ? Go for it.
Plus, Costco has such a great return policy, if the tent sucks of fails after a couple trips, they'll make it right.
Set it up at home the first time !!! Make sure all the parts are there !

 I have owned a few and agree 100%

We have a family one 12' hex shape that goes up in < 10 minutes with just me, or 15+ if the wife and kids 'help'. I've had it blow flat down on my face in 55pmh winds, but the wife wants a 'big' tent, and I cannot justify an expedition quality tent in that size. On the plus side, it has been through rain, hail, 55mph winds, sleet and snow. Not a rip in it yet. To reiterate what others have stated, they are at least as good as any other option available in any close price range.

I've used a Coleman 4 person sun dome for atleast the last 10 years now and its still going very strong. No tears in the screens, the sides and floor have held up very well and all the zippers are still working fine. That said I always use a tarp underneath the same size as the floor to keep rocks and what not from tearing the bottom and I never put it away damp. Some of my friends have much cooler and more expensive tents and while they are really nice and would be better in high winds and storms, the coleman has never let me down so I don't feel the need to upgrade. I'll probably pick up another when this one eventually dies.

There are certainly better tents on the market than Coleman. For the price though, they make a damn good product. I have been using a 4 man Crestline model for years. It is holds up well in wind and rain, and I have camped in it with the temps down to 14F. Easy to put up, and take down.

We used Coleman tents in Scouts. Always good and tough. For that price I doubt you can go wrong.
