Collaborations??

I sometimes wonder what the dynamics are that get a custom maker and Sal together to produce a knife. I imagine each instance is a little different like a chance meeting at a knife show with a maker that Sal admires. Who approaches who? I hope Sal chimes in. It'd be nice to hear a story or two about the genesis of some of those collabs. What got me wondering along these lines was my Jess Horn lightweight. In my old age I'm becoming more of a minimalist. When I use my Jess Horn I'm always admiring how much knife I'm getting in such a slim package. I don't think anyone does more with less better then Jess. Then I got to thinking about a Jess Horn bird-and-trout 3 inch fixed blade. And then I got to thinking about a Centofante with volcano grip FRN. And then I got to thinking about a FRN Millie, a FRN full sized Calypso, a FRN Dyad and then I took another look at my Jess Horn and started thinking about collaborations again and here we are.
