Collectable Busse?

Bravado,
Good Question, I'm going to guess it is one of Jerry's early knives. Maybe a one of a kind that he did for someone special for a unique occasion. ie Someone's birthday knife or Wedding knife.

I saw the Shark that 1WB's has and that one is sure up there also, mainly because it is not only rare but in perfect condition.

The Shark that Chuck has is Unbelievable! It's absolutely mint. . . I have no idea how it stayed so perfect. I was all scarred up by the time I was twenty years old. ;)

Hands down the most coleectable Busse is the one you have at the moment, or the one someone wants to get from you it is all perspective :D But the ones I would collect right now as far as return on investment is the Basic series most people bought them & beat the crap out of em & now they are drying up hard to find so I would buy all the basics I could find hope this helps.:)

Bravado:

Hi :) A few months ago I would have said the earlier vintage Busse knives. However after the large group of customs and variants which have gained enourmous popularity in a short period of time I'm honestly not sure which is more collectable.

I know I'd die for Fire Horse's Flying Mojo in my display case :D

....and based upon history, the latest variants offer the collector the greatest chance of appreciation and desirablilty. "Why"? Because Jerry is doing some of his best work ever and has been incredibly creative with these new designs. He is in the "ZONE" right now and some of this stuff is just incredible and unmatched in the industry - plus its INFI!

Fire Horse's Flying Mojo is a good example as well as some of the new double edged Variants....

Having said that, I must admit I am somewhat biased - sooooo, if you need anything by way of Variants or Customs, drop me a line !

Ed,
Now stop that ;):D

I might take pics as well but I think you guys get the idea ;):D

Customs and Variants, something like these ;):D

Hey Eric! Is the SH Variant handle thinner than the FT? Or is it just an optical illusion? Which one feels better in your hand? :)

Of all the standard models, I'll lay odds that, years down the line, the Battle Mistresses will be legendary. Heck, they are already. Sort of like the Randall model 1s. The BMs are the blades of the new millenium.

Ed,
You are right the SH Variant has thinner handles, but they are contoured also. I like the Flying Tiger handles better, it fills my hand better, however, I like the pommel better on the SH variant.

Here's a couple more for you ;)

Eric, GREAT pic of the handles! You have intrigued me. Could you measure the thickness of the micarta scales on them (at thickest point)? :)

ACK!!! I want my variant!! :) Ok enough is enough. There are international laws prohibiting this type of torture :D

Hey, Jerry's older variants aren't that shabby either!!!:p

Ok talk about a deceiving handle, I checked them out last night after Ed asked if the SH variant had thinner handles and sure enough they appeared to be. However, once I got the Micrometer out today they are the same thickness. Go figure, I've determined out what threw me off, the contours in the SH variant handle make it feel much thinner than it is. At its thickest part it is 11/16" as is the FT. However, the variant is much thinner in some spots due to the contours. The micarta on the Variant is thicker because the blade is 3/16", the FT is 1/4".
Check out the pic, Flying Tiger on the left, variant on the right.
