I found a kershaw dealer sample knife on the big auction site, but I dont really know what to bid before its not worth it. Its a sample version of what I think is a very cool limited edition knife. Do the samples carry more/same/less collectible value as a regular production version?

Well, I imagine something like that would go for a small markup over what they would normally cost. Certainly not a huge upjump in value. Of course, who knows, you may grab it and then one day run across someone who just has to have it at any cost.

Sometimes Kershaw used to send out dealer samples with the edge completely dull. (So folks could handle them and check out the speedsafe without a lot of lawsuits resulting)..... If you don't want it to be dull as a ruler, you should at least ask.

They *may* be worth more than the regular ones, but I tend to doubt it. Maybe even less. Unless you're selling it to a guy who used to work in a knife store and showed em to customers all day? Stranger stuff has happened!

Dealer samples are usually the ones everybody and their mothers pawed all over.....

When I have gone to "gun shows" in the past, I've seen lots of "salesman-sample" handguns that are offered, about once a year, by the major handgun manufacturers, at about a 30% discount to the price of a new factory piece. I don't see why knives should be any different.
Heck, to a lot of folks, it's a used item.
