Only recently have I become interested a little more in knives, but I've been a collector my whole life, in general. One of the things I've struggled with is I LOVE the thrill of the hunt, but tend to loose interest once I've acquired something. Since it seems that a decent portion of people here may be in the same collector-only boat, what do you all do once ya got 'em?

On a related note, do you all display them? Like as in a wall cabinet or shelf? Ideas?

I've had a thought of building a coffee table, and putting them under a glass top. But, we already have a coffee table...and I don't watch very much TV.

I have stopped collecting and have sold off or am selling off a number of knives that I just won't ever use. I'll keep a few that have special meaning it might have a unique locking mechanism, but other than that they are getting sold or traded. I think my son will more appreciate having the knives that I actually used than ones that just sat in a box.

I started my addiction with Modern folders. First SOG, then Emerson, then Benchmade, then ZT...midtechs...my current kick is Tradition knives. I’ve been sick for a very long time. There’s always another treasure to pursue. I have a Gerstner chest that I store my knives in. Don’t have a display case or feel the need. Blade Forums is my display case.;)

I display some of my knives, I use these 5 knife stands.

Currently have about 45 on display. Mostly my US made knives and higher-end stuff. Still so many that don't have a place for display, just stored away for the occasional fondling.
I keep the displays on a cheapy shelf from Amazon:

you don't want the thrill of the chase
to become the reason for your addiction.
remember! its the knife you're after.
the pleasure is in owning the knife.

redefine the buying intention.
repeat these words,
"i want more knives so that
i can give them away to those in need
i will no longer feel bad; now that i know
how i can be at last be finally free
of this heavy guilt of over self indulgence..."
if that fails miserably, welcome to the club.
that's why we're all here at knifenuts anonymous :)

LOL.

That wood display shelf is pretty cool. I'm leaning towards something enclosed.

Sweet setup. I'm hoping to have a library in my next house and I'll build a display shelf. Either that and build a ridiculous John Wick style safe room. Ya know have my guns and knives on display. Real ridiculous like. Currently my kids are the age that I'm having to keep most of my dangerous hobbies locked up or in a safe (super lame).

I used to collect, but now am not too fond of keeping many knives I'm not getting any use out of.

I have a small 4 level knick-knack shelf on my wall that I was putting my knives on but I think this will likely change soon.
I have started downsizing lately shifting towards smaller knives and passing along those I didn't really want anymore, and it's more than I need.
Any larger knives that I still want to keep have been stored away and at this point all I really need is somewhere I can keep the " rotation " of knives easily accessible for me to select from.

I still want something wall mounted but I'm thinking glass enclosed at this point to minimize dust.
