Somebody said that if I wanted to discuss either of the following in GKD, I should ask for permission to do so. I'm asking. Is it OK to discuss the following. For the most part, I'm just going to copy-paste the following in to a new thread.

NO links to any sites will be allowed. It is not a sales pitch. I work in technical support, not the insurance industry.

Collection Insurance
- monthly cost
- are they insured, and do they know their limits on the insurance ($5k/$10k/$25k/Unlimited)
- do they have their collection in an apartment or home
- are the items insured as antiques(?) or just as possessions in the home
- what steps have people taken to insure their knives, if any
- is it a requirement of the insurance that they have all of their receipts
- do they get replacement value or a portion of the replacement value
- has anyone had to make a claim with their insurance company and if so, how did it go

Self Defense Insurance
- monthly cost
- if you EDC, do you have self defense insurance
- what are your limits for legal help
.... Civil Defense & Damages
.... Criminal Defense, Bail Bond Funding & Attorney Retainer
- who is your insurance through
- any parameters missed that might be important

THANKS!

This does not sound to me like something we want to dive into in depth on this site.
I don't think anyone wants to share a bunch of personal information, and if they did I don't think we want that sort of personal information floating around on BF.
If the other supers disagree, they can override me, but I vote, "no."

What you were doing in GKD was discussing/promoting/suggesting a specific company that provides self-defense insurance, including talking about the cost and services provided.

Which is different than discussing the concept/idea/pros/cons of collection insurance and self defense insurance.

I'm not promoting anything. I don't have a dog in the fight, I don't own stock and have spent a measly $30 for my insurance. If I come across a better solution, I'll use it and I am sure a few others would too. How else are we supposed to find the companies and policies if we do not get the word out there and discuss it?
