Hello everyone, my name is illi and I'm new to this forum, and knife collecting in general. I have started my collection last month an have ammased a bunch of knives based on rave reviews and recommendations. After scouring through the internet and doing collective research I have bought the following :
Spydero Dragon Fly in VG10 and ZDP189 :
Brilliant little knife, very well constructed and my first ever Spyderco. Super sharp out of the box the VG10 being a shade sharper than the ZDP189 though it was bought from the same seller on Ebay.
Spyderco Paramilitary S30V :
Ergonomically, it feels just right as many before me have claimed. My only gripe is the first time around I received the knife it was so hard to open, mind you it was IMPOSSIBLE to flick. After sending it back, I have received a brilliant knife back which is as smooth as butter... buuuut... less sharp than the first knife I received. Not shaving sharp like some of the others. Also, compression lock is kind of stiff currently, we will see when the knife breaks in.
Benchmade 940 Osborne S30V :
My number one user knife, I just love the way it feels and the way it holds in my hand. I also love the none tactical gentleman's knife look and the axis lock is a dream. So easy to flick open with an authoritative flick. The knife came super sharp with a pouch which to me was a nice touch.
Mcusta Katana VG10 :
This my friends is the safe queen. Although it has cost me less than the Para + BM 940 shipped to where I reside (not USA) I have got to say that it is a piece of art that is also a user. The Mcusta was the sharpest of all the knives I had received with a polished edge that doesnt require to touch the hair on my arm for it to fly out of fear. It is SCARY SCARY sharp.
Kershaw Leek :
Although of less quality metal, the Leek is a brilliant little knife and has probably seen most time in my pocket after the BM. I just love how it flies open with the flipper or stud. Holds an ok edge. This is an assisted opening knife but don't let the other manual openers fool you, they open just as quick.
SAK champ + cadet :
Brilliant knives, champ is not as awesome to pocket but the amount of useful tools it carries is just amazing.
Shortlisted :
Chris Reeves Large Insingo Mcarta
Bushcraft knife (undecided, leaning towards BM's bushrafter)
I have learnt a lot from the forum and based on the collection I have amassed the past month + my knife taste, can you guys recommend other knives that I might be intersted in ?
Thanks.
Illi
