Nope, not from people coming to make sure bills are paid. Protecting your collection.

I have a lot of slipjoints including a few Case Bose collaborations, a few one hand openers including two Sebenzas and quite a few custom bushcraft fixed blades. I have stored the custom fixed blades in a nightstand dresser, the slipjoints are in a knife roll, and the one hand openers are on my closet shelf. All of these knives are users, but I would like to store the ones not getting used at the moment in a more controlled environment. I'm not looking for climate controlled safes, but would like to know what members here use for their knives. The knife roll is coming up on it's tenth birthday, it was an el cheapo from a flea market, and is just used to keep the slipjoints from rattling around in a dresser drawer, scuffing up the blades and bolsters. I have a few knives in zippered pouches, but those are not recommended for long term storage. Most of the knives are either plastic, delrin, bone, wood, G10 or micarta, with both carbon/tool and stainless steels. I don't have any acrylics or mother of pearl etc to infect the collection. No parasites either, and I don't want to start. I have thought about keeping a few packets of silicate in the nightstand drawers. I also have a nice Seiko Black Monster I keep in the original box that I would like to store with the knives. Any ideas are appreciated.

I have 2 shelfs in my gun safe dedicated to knives and other bladed goodies. That is where the reside, safe and sound, snugly in their boxes. At any given time I have a couple floating around the house. As for dealing with moisture and corrosion, I have yet to have any problems since I began storing in the safe, but I do plan on adding a dehumidifier in the near future.

Lee valley sells some large re-chargeable silica packs. I have three of the smaller ones that I use, and they seem to work. they also have what they call vapor deposit crystal rust-proofing which might be an option as well.

I think you should get a safe, at least a small one for the most valuable items. Even a locking tool chest is better than a knife roll.
