Hi,

I am a self proclaimed nounologist. (A learner of people, places, and things).

I have been curious if some of you other people that obviously have a connection to the khukri also have a common connection/interest in the same types of things other khukri lovers are connected to.

For instance, I have a new found love of khukris. They are beautiful. They have an interesting historic story. They are very high quality. It is noteworthy that they are diversely useful for countless tasks and it seems like these HI khuks are unquestionably dependable.

That being said, do you guys also like other things with these same qualities?

Personally, I am a "collector" of Opinel knives. I fell in love with a knife that really cuts well. I pretty much only use my Opinels for food because they are work excellently in food preparation.

I also have a very soft spot for Mosin Nagants. I guess there is just something that calls out to me about a functional, affordable, historically significant objects. They simply beckon me.

Makes me curious what other collections we may all have in common. Let me know. Thanks.

I have a couple Mosin's. I'm a collector of all things that go bang, sort of a scatterbrained firearm collector with no focus although I do mostly old, military and weird stuff.
Wood and steel, no tupperware for me.
Lately it's been Mossberg 22 rifles. I got 6 so far. A winner every one. Love them with rough stocks so I can give them a make over. All excellent shooters so far.
The khukri's sort of side tracked me as they are a might more affordable in some cases.

Me too. I've never met a boomstick I didn't like. Bawanna, you sound like you are from the UK. If so, what are the rules over there for carrying and using a khukri? I will be going there in a couple months and have been curious if I could take my khuk. Thanks

UK? I'm a born and bred Missourian transported against my will at about age 6 to Seattle Washington.

I got lots of kin in Missouri, not many in the UK that I know about.

What makes me sound like I'm from the UK? Now I'm curious.

I’ve recently added 3 non-HI khukuris to my collection of 5 HI khukuris.

Also acquired 2 composite horn bows this year (1 Ming large ear 14-15th century design and 1 Mongolian conquest bow 12-13th century design) to add to my traditional Asiatic bow collection (Turkish, Tibetan, Chinese).

Bawanna, my mistake. You said "they are a might more affordable in some cases" and I guess that seemed like a phrase our European English speaking friends may have used.

I am born and bred in the SHOW ME state as well. That's God's country right there.
