I know most of you collect knives, and some are interested in firearms, but does anyone collect other things? Personally I like to collect old books, outdoors, woodcraft, firearms, fishing, things like that.

Books, vintage double edge razors, vintage climbing gear and miscellaneous shelf sized antique items.

Jeff

Nothing to speak of at the moment, and my knife collection is dwindling.

When I settle down somewhere, I can see myself acquiring some old woodworking tools.

I'm not sure I have enough fly rods to call a collection but I do have more than a few. I lost several boxes of vintage magazines and books to a flood but still have enough to fill my book shelves. I also have an unhealthy attraction to rimfire handguns. The number of axes/hatchets around our home is growing slowly but I told my wife they are not a collection because I use them.

At one time I had a large collection of handmade wooden crank baits. I sold off a lot of my rare ones, but still have a large collection from a builder that is much like you. Not as well known, but built the toughest, most consistent bait you could find available for a lot better price than those more well known.

I transitioned to fly fishing and just lost interest.

I kind of low-key collect books, comic books, guns, knives and flashlights. I have spent a really silly amount of money on flashlights!:D

My latest hobby is parting with collections :p.

I used to collect diecast cars 25 years ago. Most of them are gone but I still have four of the higher end models that I'm just not sure what to do with. My wife has a Jeff Gordon collection that I helped her amass. Most from his early years.

I have a small collection of antique fishing reels but I've been parting with that too. Currently, like the diecast cars, there are four left in the collection so I'm not sure I can call it that anymore. I recently turned an antique fly rod and spring loaded/automatic reel over to my former boss leaving me with only one bamboo heavy trolling rod left. That one might get paired up with a reel and gifted as well.

Turns out, antique fishing gear makes great dust collecting clutter but isn't a great investment.o_O:D It was stil fun tinkering with and learning about the old reels.

I've got one of those automatic fly reels that was my grandfather 's, new in the box with original receipt.

I like to collect foreign coins, like to see if I can identify some of the countries that are different, and what symbols or persons on them and why they are important to a nation's culture. Just neat what you can find at the register when at antique shops. A long time ago was given a Rand from a lady from South Africa, about the size of a US fifty cent piece, and just the other day it is cool to see how the Rand has gotten a lot smaller.

I have an interest in seeing scrimshaw work after seeing some cool knife handles with it, not that I collect it.

Good luck, I have a friend who has retired twice and still has a job where he works 40+ hours per week. I've never found a job I enjoyed that much or paid that well.

Its more of a joke a military pension will cover a mortage. And i have a good amount of sons to raise still.

I collect Jack Daniels bottles, only full, sealed bottles and only "special" bottles - not just "label jobs".

I have quite a few vintage bottles and just added a few mid 70's black-label bottles to the collection.

How about a bottle of Single Barrel from the Feb 1997?

I also have older collections of die-cast Corvettes and motorcycles. I have, like Chris, been selling off some of those on ebay as I have a lot of those things just sitting in my office.

Finally, I have accumulated quite a few Caterpillar die-cast models. Those will likely go to my son and grandson at some point.

best

yes, please. thanks Andy! when should i arrive?!!? :D

in days gone by, i dabbled in vintage baseball card collecting and coin collecting (silver).

Even though I own several guns and knives I guess I never really thought of being a collector ... since I use most all of them ... but I guess I probably fit the definition for most ...

I do collect vinyl albums ... and my music tastes cover a wide varity ... I do collect guitars ... mostly to play but some are autographed or well worn used by someone whose music I really enjoy ... and those I may have played a time or two but they are in display cases now.

Stainless USA made thermos (vacuum) bottles.
2 foot lockers full...have not looked at them in 9 or 10 years, not real exciting stuff I guess!

Red and white lures lately, have a few 100.

I'm afraid knives is about for me. I do like tools though, and have more than I could use. I also have a few of this and a few of that, but nothing that would really be called a collection.

Knives have been since I was a kid, but there's been a few here and there over the years. Guns, guitars, drums, watches, axes, old cameras, outdoor gear. I tend to go through phases, and then sell off to buy something different (sold most of my guns at this point), except the guitars. The guitars will stick around till the end, and then get sent off amongst friends and family.
