Well Spyderco fans I ordered a Tenacious Satin PE FRN from a Spyderco dealer Monday and it arrived today. Funny thing is it has the collector number 015V on the side of the blade. Just wondering if this happens very often or 015V is missing their knife?

I bought a foliage green fully serrated endura several years ago, and I swear it has 015 also. I'll have to go look.
Dealers can certainly be in the collectors club ( I would think) and can sell the knives they buy.

Not sure what you're asking? It's a collector's club model, the V means a variation on the original model (Tenacious in G10). If you're wondering how the dealer got it, the dealer was likely a collector's club member and decided to sell his model.

Either the dealer is a member of the collector club, or nobody is number 15, so the ones marked with that get sent out wherever with the normal ones.

I know it’s a collector’s club knife. I was mainly wonder how often people receive them from a dealer.

Quite often. A lot of dealers have a few CC numbers to ensure they will get at least a few of each Sprint and exclusive to sell.

Contact the Spyderco Factory Outlet. They revamped the program a few years ago, and I believe there are more options now. Basically, you sign a contract with Spyderco and a dealer to buy a lot of knives. It may be one of each new model, it may be one of each new variant (all the Sprints and Exclusives), it might be some other level of commitment. There should be information available on their website. I've never been affluent enough to consider it.

I did not know that the “v” was for variant. How does a guy know what the variant is? My trusty old Navigator 2 has the collector number. No idea anymore now where I got it. One of my favorite models.

It's pretty hard to tell what the variation is. Originally, the serrated version was the base model and all others were Variants. Nowadays, the plain edge is the base and SE is a Variant, as is different steel, different color, addition of a Wave opener, left-hand version, etc. In your particular case, being a flat-ground Navigator 2 makes it a Variant of the original Navigator since they kept the same model number.
