Will someone please take the time to describe their experience at the open house last week? I was not able to attend and I can't wait for an update from anyone who did.

Thanks much,
Dan

Dan,

I was not able to attend the 15th BCCI Anniversary either, but I did hear from Larry Oden (BCCI VP), who did attend, that he made it back home. I am sure some of the "crew" will be giving reports very soon. I also know the John Foresman (BCCI PRES) took his camera again, and again, I have offered to host some pictures, as I did for after BLADE '03. As soon as John sends me the photos, I'll get them up on my BCCI Home Page. (BTW - he sent me the original disc of photos from BLADE and I am working on getting more "knife" photos on the web site as well as making it easier and faster to load)

The Buck Collectors Club 15 year anniversary was, for me, a highlight event. It started with a catered banquet on Wednesday evening, July 16 at the Buck cafeteria. John Foresman, BCC President, served as the emcee and introduced Chuck and CJ Buck, Jane Davey, Pam Taylor, other special guests and the BCC officers and board of directors. Both Chuck and CJ had a welcoming statement. Also, Vern Taylor and Jane Davey were honored for the many things they had done for the club. Pam Taylor, Vern's widow accepted the award on Vern's behalf and received a well-deserved standing ovation. For those of you who know Pam, you know she is a wonderful, gracious person who always supported Vern and his efforts for the club. About 125 club members and their guests attended the banquet.
Thursday featured a short club meeting, factory tours, a catered lunch and five rotating seminars. Unfortunately, I was teaching one of the seminars and did not get to attend any of the other seminars but I was told that they were outstanding. On Thursday evening, many of the attendees gathered back at the Buck plant for a knife sale and silent auctions. Joe Houser went out of his way to have a large number of discontinued models available at very special prices. Many club members picked-up special knives for their collections. Also, several members were able to auction off knives they wanted to sell.
Friday was filled with more great seminars and a group picture.
The company store was open throughout the event for extended hours.
With people such as David Yellowhorse, Wilde Bill Cody and Paul Bos sharing their expertise, it was an informative time. Everybody who spoke to me said they had a fantastic time. I would especially like to thank Joe Houser, Jane Davey, Georgia Foresman, Charles Tofft and Billy Santarsiero for all of their outstanding efforts. Also, there were many unnamed Buck employees who went the extra mile to ensure a great event. Thank you one and all. I apologize that I am unable to name everyone of you.

I don't remember the last time i was so tired! :D It was a good kind of tired though and the event was a ton of fun with a lot of good people showing up. It seems a shame to only have these kinds of events every 5 years but it will probably take me that long to find enough knives to make it worthwhile!
A long list of people, both at the Buck plant and some members, made this event a success. I hope everybody can make the next one in 2008!
Take care,
