I have some knives for which I'd like to know if anybody can help me with the approximate retail value: Three custom hunting kniives as follows: Harvey G. King Jr (Eskridge KS) (3 3/8" blade w/bone handle); a K. J. Whitworth working straight knife (3 3/4" blade-4 1/2" wood handle); a K. Henschel (Mpls) 4" blade-5" wood handle; a Browning 4" blade-41/4" wood handle. A Browning folding w/24k gold plated medallion of John Browning on quince wood handle, solid walnut presentation case. A Schrade Damascus steel lockback 3 3/4" folding in velvet box w/custom tooled leather sheath, dense Mexican Rosewood handle, 2000 made in '85, 1st series with Schrade Hallmark showing corporate symbol, Schrade Forger and letter "A" indicating yr of mfg on handle, limited edition, but not a commemorative. Only Damascus knife Schrade made. A USN TACTICAL MK 3 Mod W/sheath. A Gerber Paul folding 6" open, leather sheat, original box & paperwork. And a TAT Trophy Hunter 3" blade, 4" handle w/brass nugget and leather sheath.

Seems odd that you would put up a big list like this on your first post. To some it will seem that you are trying to sell them here and while Bladeforums is a great place to sell knives there are certain rules that apply.

All selling must be done in the exchange forum and only by Gold Members who pay an annual fee for the privilage.

Might want to read up on the rules of the forum so as not to risk being banned.

Giving the new person the benefit of the doubt, I'd like to suggest posting the Schrade questions in the Schrade Collectors Forum at this website. Include photos/scans if you can. Even if no one there can give you a value estimate, we'd like to see the photos anyway. :)

Otherwise, I suggest searching completed auctions at eBay for similar knives in the same condition. That's the best indicator of what you could actually expect to get if selling, and a good indicator of how much it would cost to replace your knives if lost or stolen.

I plan to display some of these for sale at the Oklahoma Gun Show coming up end of Mar 07. I'll take heed on the advice regarding the rules of the forum of which I was unaware. I do not want to risk being banned. Thanks.

Don't get yourself banned Nancy Wilson...you'll miss out on all the fun.

Welcome aboard!

Sometimes it's not so simple to find the value of a knife.

Best to ask in the forums specific to the brand as Bob W suggested. Pictures, original prices, condition and dates of manufacture would also help here. Lots of folks here would be happy to chime in but that list of yours is a bit daunting.

Welcome to the forums Nancy.

I searched the Schrade Forum for "damascus" and most of the results are for the Schrade-Kious, which was damascus, but it's not a lockback. So I really have no idea what you have. I do know the guys down at the Schrade forum would love to see a photo if your knife, even if you just lay it on a flatbed scanner. Plus, one of the more serious collectors can probably give you more information.

Thanks for all the good advice to this novice. I've got other collector knives as well and yes I've learned it's very difficult to determine proper values for knives. Much harder than for guns. I have a digital so I'll work on listing some of these in specific forums with whatever info I've managed to accumulate, and attach pictures. Fishing season is starting and when they start biting, it could be awhile until I can get back to this!! Gotta' remember our priorities! Thanks again to everybody for all the input!
