And I have the SEAL 2001 on order. Correct decision or no? Realistically, there is a 60% chance I'll just put it under glass. Looking at my Busses, only the hatchet, a badger attack and battle mistress are users and 8 more are like new.

Then again, maybe you want to abuse me for even considering buying one and not using it. Save your electrons, I've heard that diatribe.

Striders knives are not made to be put "under glass" are you f****ing nuts?

The true pleasure of owning a Strider and the REASON they make them are to be USED.

Collectors?

as much as I hate to say it the numbered BG-42 folders would probably be good collector pieces. 1 they won't be made in BG-42 after the first 100 and 2 they are numbered. That's always a sure fire collectors item. Though I couldn't stand leaving mine in a case. IT would be real hard to resist. But yeah a GB and AR with the same numbers would be sure to go up in value as time went on. But then again sometimes knives made to be "used and abused" don't really go up in value until the model is discontinued or the maker dies (knock on wood) because some people won't pay inflated rates when they can just buy one new from the dealer. Then again I paid 400.00+ for my AR since I really wanted BG-42. But that was not a collector factor it was a steel preference.;)

Ryu, as far as i know the GB's and AR's made after the first 100 ARE in BG-42, at least thats what my GB says on it. Not to say that they would be worth any less that way.
people have sold #d ones for over 500 bucks already.
and in my opinion, theyres really no point in buying a strider if your not gonna use it, not to say that you should use it as a prybar(unless you HAVE to), but you cant really understand whats so great about em unless you use em, besides theyre really not as cool looking without some kydex scratches on em

If you want to collect, that is fine and the SEAL 2001 maybe a fine way to start. Then do youself a favor, buy one that you'll use. I was using mine today to cut some oak branches that were to close to my house. Man, I mean 2" - 2 1/2" oak branches cut just like butter! Nothin' wrong with collectin' but a Strider begs to be used.

OK, my Busse knives are pretty impressive users. What is it that makes these so much more amazing? (not trolling here, i just want some reasoned opinions) I like how they look, that's for sure. But the only one I spent any time with had barely been used and while it looked very strong, it wasn't exactly hair popping sharp. In fact, the owner sort of poo-pooed the idea of stropping up a super sharp edge, sort of implying that wouldn't last long slicing through kryptonite or whatever he had in store for it...

I do want one... maybe more?? Thanks for the input..

Its your money and your knife and what you do with it is your business and if someone else don't like it thats their problem not yours.Enjoy.

Striders as objects de' art ? I guess I can see that. Like Stoners, HK's and Pre CBS Stratocasters, all the pinnacle of Fine design; but beg to be used.
One to use and one as a wall hanger.

Cheers

I say get the AJAX or a MSC 7.5 ! Either one will be a great addition to your collection.

Some of my Striders are collectors but not becuse they were purchased with that in mind. I have more Striders than I can use and usually reach for or carry only a few when I need to cut something.

I am not in the services or LEO so I don't have a great need for a Strider for "duty" use. Sure I use my Striders just about everyday but some of my Striders are, umm, as they say for "flesh only" use. These knives are never used unless things get really ugly and that has not happend yet. So do I collect em? well I guess yes. Do I use em? yes.

Of course you couldn't go wrong with the Mick Strider Custom 7.5 or Ajax, or the Dwyer Custom D-9 either.

It's not that one is better than the other. I notice that the Busses are awesome choppers. You can take just about anything apart with one. The Striders are great slicers. My folder was as sharp as all get outs. Don't think in termsof better. They are both the shiznit. Can't go wrong with either.
