IMHO, this is a great example of smart custom knife collecting. Not only did Jon go for a low number custom made CKCA club knife (#8 of the first ever CKCA club knife run); he also sought out and acquired Karl Andersen's original prototype that resulted in his selection as the honored maker for the first club knife.
If, as may be expected over time, these CKCA club knives become more collectible, especially the very first one, Jon's knife and the accompanying prototype with all the original paperwork may naturally eclipse all the others in value and desirability.
As a fellow collector I watch what other collectors do and learn from them. What Jon did illustrates one good way to support the future value of a knife investment from the very moment of purchase.
