I just received the collectors club newsletter for June. Inside they list a number of special projects with model numbers. Later in the same article they list availablity of certain models at Bass Pro and so forth.

My question is; why are the special projects listed along with piece counts? Are these available to collectors? Any information would be appreciated.

By the way, the collectors edition knife looks great!

The special project items are listed so that club members learn of these knives' availability. Quantities are listed because they sometimes affect value, collectability and give club members an idea as to how difficult the knives may be to locate.
I know of some members who often buy only special edition knives which were produced in quantities of, say 500, or less. Their thinking is that a knife produced at this low volume will be more likely to become valuable. A good example is the Master Series knives from 1998 in BG-42. Because of the reduced number of units produced, there are more people who want these knives than there are knives available. It is obvious that the value of these knives is higher than it would be had Buck produced 3000 or more of each.
