Spyderco announced the Forum Vesuvius on April 4th - not sent to dedicated collectors yet. 300 were made for public - 200 collectors still in the cold.
Pride info was sent to us scheduled delivery in 2 - 3 months. Verified that dalers are already getting there knives.
As an individual collector I have been asked to commit to all new knives that come out and have an option on variations. So far that has been over 30 knives in 2002. If I don't get my knives first I Feel cheated as a dedicated Spyderco Collector. What gives?

Jazzman - That is what I am doing. There are 200 collectors who might have the same question. There are plenty of Spyderco employees who read these posts. If they are concened they have the ability to post or email me. While it's not the end of the world it I don't get a knife I see things slipping. Lets see who steps up. rr

Hi Rico. Sorry I didn't get to you. I am currently between shows, prepping for the next one, so I'm not able to moderate the forum right now. This was considered an "emergency", so I'll try to answer.

The forum Vesuvius project was screwed up in just about every way possible from the plastics vendor to my stopping the project for changes. Collectors was only one of the many. They never should have been offered when they were.

I'm sure you are not interested in the details of each fubar, so all I can do is offer an apology to the forumites, the collectors and anyone else that may have been dissapointed or inconvenienced.

The Vesuvius is undergoing some re-engineering (I was not pleased with the engineering on the current model) and we'll be able to resume later this summer.

Vesuvius? screwed up? problems with the plastics vender? how odd... cuz uhh well I work for Vince Ford, ya know your ex chief engineer.. the man you buy your Vesuvius scales from, the man who made the mold... n e ways i personaly shot thos handles for the collector Vesuvius at least four months ago and we shiped them the next day.

So anyway, i dont know why the Vesuvius project is screwed up but please dont use BCT or Blade Tech as a scape goat.

Yeah...but this looks like an opportunity to get the current samples and keep them for future purposes...

Hi Reverend_David. Welcome to the Spyderco forum, thanx for posting.

I generally avoid posting the name of vendors or customers. It has proven to be a wise practice and avoids potential problems.

As I mentioned, there were many screw ups, most of them in our court.

I cannot say that the vendor did not contribute. It was probably before your time, but the parts were committed for fall of '01. We were planning on a Christmas '01 delivery. I think that it is quite commendable that you shipped the day after shooting the parts, four months ago, but they were a bit late for a December '01 plan. I know that Vince had a lot to do and the move messed up his schedule.

However, fault is not an issue. If there is a fault, it is always mine. My purpose of posting was an apology to Rico and any other collectors that were disappointed.

We still appreciate your interest and involvement in the forum.
