I know in the past its been talked about but did anyone ever find out if we could have, lets say a continuous collectors swap thread. kinda like the one thats over in traditional folders and fixed blades area. That way we could include camillus and schrade and maybe others, I dont know? We wouldnt need anything special just a thread that would never end... I know Id be interested and Im sure some other would as well. just curious. I would be happy to start one but I thought someone said before we could get in trouble for that? any other thoughts.-Joel

I concur, by selling or swapping in house ,we all get the advantage of trust and confidence of the reputation of owner to owner, and it Keeps the knives in the circle of friends where everyone can keep on enjoying them .

Joel, bring up your idea in the Service and Support forum to see if it will be sanctioned by Spark and the mods. If so, they can sticky it here with the ground rules at the top so that spammers don't swoop in on us.

Hey Joel, I saw Cougar's reply, and it looks promising! I'm kind of leaning (IMHO) in the direction of the Schrade only option since:
a) This is the Schrade Forum:D
b) There are already threads where other knives are available, and offering the same here would just confuse the issue.

What say we all have a serious discussion here so a decision can be reached. Nice going on the initiative Joel!!

PS- We could (or should) include Ulsters and Imperials since they are siblings;)

eric- I agree but I was just trying to leave it more open in hopes to make it more easily workable. You know what I mean if its all imperials ulsters schrades thats fine with me but I was just trying to sound appealing to the moderators. so if for some reason they wanna let camillus in I wouldnt care one way or the other. All I meant was say I have some perticular schrade for trade that you want. you contact me off the forum. and say Ok I have this knife and this knife and we just dont have a trade worked out, but you then say I also could throw in this buck and we agree. away from the forum in email or something. I dont care how they decide to do it I just hope they decide to do it. -Joel

Good ideas. I would like to see Camillus included since it was bought and owner by Albert Baer and his children and grandchildren. And also because Camillus made a lot of knives for Schrade with the Schrade marks on them. My suggested marks would be something like this:

Schrade Cut. Co
Schrade Walden
Schrade Cutlery Corp.
Imperial Schrade
IKAC
Imperial
Kingston
Ulster
Camillus
And SFO's made by these companies including Sears.

Codger,
I don't know enough about the Schrade lines or associated brands to make an educated guess, so your list is good. But what about the Schrade Westenholm (sp?)? Is that a legitimate brand to be included?

Dave

everything everyone has said so far sounds great I started another thread to get an offical vote check that out.- Joel

Great list. That ought to cover it and then some.

I completely forgot about the Baer tie in with Camillus:confused::o Maybe we should add Catskill to that list since it was arm of Camillus?

Oh, Camillus, AKA A. Kastor & Bros., AKA A. Kastor and sons had many, many marks. Some were used exclusively for certain retailers, or hardware jobbers, and many were used in general merchandisers on knives made in either their own cutlery in Camillus, in Ohligs-Solingen, Germany (Germania Cutlery Works), or for them in Austria, Czechoslovakia, Poland and England. And don't forget about Imperial Schrade's Stag Cutlery of Listowel. Then yes, they did own Wostenholm and others in England. And an operation in Thiers, France. So a comprehensive list could go on. But knives manufactured by Imperial Schrade ended in 2004. Knives of whatever mark manufactured by Camillus Cutlery ended in 2007. If you want, I'll work up a list of marks owned and used by both, but it will take a while. Oh, and Schrade made knives for Buck and Boker too. DId you know that while A.W. Wadsworth & Sons and W. H. Morley & Son were marks that the Kastors used on their European import knives (Mostly in Nixdorf, Bohemia, now Mikulasovice in the Czech Republic), they were both also American corporations owned by the Kastors?

yea a list would be great and maybe help move thing along in the swap site deal. So would stuff like streamline be in there too?

All Camillus/Kastor marks.

I only have one streamline but they are a super cool knife hopefully I'll find more in time. the design and such make the knife seem so far ahead of its time- Joel
