  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

I (G1) Recently received an old woodworkers chest from my dad's (G2) dad (G3). Some of the tools in that chest belonged to his dad's (G4) dad (G5), including a sharpening stone in a homemade wooden case with leather hinge and G4's name and birthdate "July 16, 1899" From Dufor OR written in it. Anyway, another thing in this chest was an oldish looking "hatchet". The head has a 4" blade edge, 1.75" back hammer flat part (name?), and is 5.75" wide. The handle is 12" long. On the side of the head is stamped "Collins & Co Hartford Legitimus" with an image of a crown, arm, and hammer. I have looked up what I could with that bit of information and the two linked pictures. From what I have found (linked source), it seems to be an earlier model. However, I'm no pro and so I present what I have to the forum for further analysis.
