I'm trying to re-handle a Collins double bit axe but the handles available at the local hardware are massive in comparison to this head. Are there any suppliers that have a smaller, more delicate handle available? I'm looking at an old worn out d.b. and the handle is about 1/2 the diameter of the hardware store behemoths. I suppose I could draw knife the bigun down but that is a LOT of work. Any ideas? Thanx--KV

what are the measurements of the head, the eye and so on? house handle sells a crusier size handle of 28 inches and a full size double-bit of 30 inches.
The crusier handle is small and the full size is well full size. The full size would require a good shapedown to fit if the crusier was to small. Thankfully they are cheap. i have had both.

Thanx Disduster--The eye is 5/8" at the widest point and 2 7/8" long. Im kinda getting the feeling this might be a cruiser type axe that takes the smaller handle. Particularly with an eye that small. Any thoughts?-KV

sounds about right, i had two crusier handles but they were to small for me, so i shaped them out and hung them on some small single bit heads i had. Otherwise i would measure them for you. sorry but from my minds eye i would say that the crusier handle would fit your head.

Thanx for the help. I ordered one of each. Probably wont go to waste the way my luck has been running. In the past month Ive picked up this Collins d.b.,a s.b. "Trutest" and an unmarked broad axe for less than 5$ total. Any info on the "Trutest"?--KV
