Hi there.
I have a mystery for you Collins Axe experts.
I acquired a Collins Axe that I can find NOTHING on, My google fu is not weak but this is a real strange one.
I dont have a high enough post count to attach files, but you have to see this.
Its a Collins Axe, the axe is 13" from bottom of handle to the top.
It looks to be a plain riggers hatchet, nail puller etc.
But it has this huge spike on the back.
So take a look, if you would and if any of you have any ideas or information please share.

thanks again
P.S. Please ignore the bigfoot sighting in the picture.

I wonder if this was/is a specialty roofing hammer specifically for slate or clay tile installation. Every tile has to have 2 'pin' holes made in them for nailing.

I think it's a riggers axe and that a blacksmith has drawn out the poll into a spike. The handle must have been removed & reused or replaced with a new Collins handle. The handle appears too nice to have always been attached to that hatchet.
