I have a Collins Legitimus machete, in very good condition , with scabbard . It is stamped made in USA, no. 1250, 1940. I inherited it from my father who served in the RCAF. I am curious to know if any of you know if this machete might have been a Canadian Forces issue or not?

Yes, the Canadian military contracted with Collins to make these "Bush Knife" bolo patterns when they couldn't source them from the British due to the War. Steel is 1044 carbon. I don't have it handy, but the story of them is told in DE Henry's Collins Machetes and Bowies book for a couple of pages.

Thanks kindly. Also have a small curved blade Kukri (I think used by Nepalese Gurkas?j that I cannot imagine was a Canadian forces issue..the stamp on the blade is hard to read..something like “emperecksteel made in India. Beautiful blond handle. And a SAS black or darkened blade commando knife …I am imagining maybe a trade from a Brit in war.
