I have a collins no. 17 bowie knife 10" blade, with a bronze handle as shown on page 157 of collins machetes and bowies by Daniel Edward Henry.
Blade shows some light pitting but no wear. Blade has not been sharpened since new.
Handle is very ornate and cast in 2 section Have owned knife for over 30 years and am curious if anyone can assist me with age, aproxamate number made and if knife has any collectable interest or value. Who was made for?
I do not have a scabbord. has been sitting around for 30 years.
Markings show crown with long thin arm, thumb pointing straight, hammer from right to left. legitimu under crown. collins & Co Hartford Acero Fino
CALIDAD cannot read next line (too faint)
Any info you folks can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
