I just received an outdoor clothing catalog in the mail ('tis the season). The company also carries a few products other than clothing, one of which is a slip joint trapper knife. The brand name is "Colonel Littleton." I've never heard of them. My wife pointed the knife out to me and asked me why it cost so much. Of course, I had to explain to her that it really wasn't THAT expensive depending on the quality.........:o. Anyway, has anyone ever heard of this brand of knives? Is it a knife manufacturer or does an established company make the knives for them, and if so, does anyone know which company. I googled the name but only located sellers of the product line, no info.

I just went to their site. Just looking at them at a glance, the fact that they don't have scale pins I would say they are Bear knives and not worth the high price. Just my opinion. Nice looking catalog/website though.
Contract knives with Colonel Littleton's stamp. Some of the other knives look like cheap imports to me.

I have several of them and Navihawk is right. Pretty sure they are made by Bear.
They are not bad knives but the fit and finish is hit and miss.
The little trapper is a nice pattern but the hardware store near my house sells the same knife with yellow plastic handles for 22 bucks.
If you can live without the Col. Littleton tang stamp get yourself a Bear and enjoy.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I was assuming they were made by a "higher end" company based on the price. I own a number of Bear cutlery knives and I agree the quality is hit and miss. I wasn't going to purchase one anyhow. I was just curious if they were a knife manufacturer I hadn't heard of, or if not, who made them.

There's a clothing store up in Truckee Ca that used to have a lot of them, the fit and finish was pretty poor for the price.
