Anybody know about these knives? I was exposed to them through a friend about a year ago and the itch to buy one is getting stronger. Are they really worth the fairly high price tag?
Thanks,
Matt

I have seen them a few times, and the company does or did have a website.

The knives are made by Bear MGC Cutlery company of Alabama. They are a manufacturer of pocket and hunting knives, used to be the Parker USA factory until Parker went bust.

You don't see Bear MGC mentioned here in the forums much if at all. I have heard they are quality users, not as refined as Case or Queen and not as widely available as Schrade.

If I were you, I would check Bear first, get the same or similar knife probably at a lower price.

They are way overpriced, considering they are made by Bear MGC out of 440A. They are sold by Orvis, which is a store full of overpriced stuff.

As knifeaholic said, these are made by Bear MGC for this "Country Store", (www.colonellittleton.com), and are quite pricey on that site. You can find Bear products at Smoky Mountain, for one, at about 1/3 of that price. I have 6-7 of these knives, and would say they are about the equal of most Case products, for about 20% less. In fact when done correctly, fit and finish is quite nice for the price. They are now owned by Swiss Army Brands (Victorinox) and make some very nice multitools as well. JMO.
