This could have been a really nice knife (lighter than a Buck 110 with slimmer handle), except whoever assembled the knife had no idea of what he was doing, and the QC inspector was out to lunch. This folder has substantial side to side blade slop when locked (lateral play, not vertical!!). The blade pivot pin is "peened" between the inside of the bolster and the blade itself, leaving a noticeable gap. The knife was a gift, so I 'll use it as is, probably not worth the hassle of a return.

According to Colonial, they quit making that model in the late 1980's or early 1990's (I forget which, and am not able to find that email at the moment.)

This was a new purchase on Amazon....hard to believe it was from remaining stock from the 90s (!!???) but they are out of them now. I thought this was a new Chinese made piece farmed out by Colonial

That lateral slop is easily fixed by squeezing the bolsters together in a vise slowly until most of the slop is gone, then lightly tapping the ends of the pivot pin with a hammer to peen them slightly, if you have some pin exposed after that treatment, you can file or sand the pin smooth with the bolsters and then polish the bolsters to a nice shine again.
I have done this to buck 110s to fix some excessive play.

If it is new old stock from decades ago, I would just leave it as is.

Btw, if you do happen to squeeze in a vise, use some thick leather or folded denim in the jaws to prevent gouging the bolsters.
