I have had one of these wood handled heavy duty steel bolstered barlow knives for a long time. When I picked it up, it was an inexpensive but strong knife that I used while working as a groundskeeper when I didn't want to risk damaging a good knife. I pulled it out of my toolbox the other day and started wondering whether they were still being made. I googled trying to find information, but all I found is an old colonial knife site that lists the knife as part a "rancher" line. Does anyone know the history on these? Were/are they US made or foreign built? Are they still being made or sold? Any info would help. Thanks.

I've been collecting Barlow pattern knives for several years. I find I can learn something about them just about every day if I try. Here's a good start for your search:

It's the Colonial Knife Company's site. You may also want to check in with The Bernard Levine Knife Collecting and Identification Forum on this site. If you can find any info on your specific knife I think that'll be your best bet.

Good luck,
