A certain retailer had these for $20 individually or $30 for the pair and I just couldn't pass them up.

I know these were originally made for bluegrass cutlery and I've seen some of the lockback versions that were obviously Camillus , but what about these .
The blades look very Colonial to me.

Does anyone know who made these ?

Colonial went out of business in 1998. So it seems unlikely they made a knife with the year 2000 on it. But that's just my guess. I could be wrong.

O.B.

I'd think "Colonial" (or possibly "Novelty Knife Co.") more, if they were clamshell construction.
If the "certain retailer" is who I think it is, (a rather large, and non-BF supporting retailer, located in Tinny-Sea) I'd guess where they have the current Winchester knives made. (I see the "Winchester" tang stamp on both.)
The blades look both "Colonial-ish" and "Novelty Knife-ish" to me. Compare to the Novelty Knife Co. Barlow's on that certain retailer's website ... if you can get their daRn "search" function to stop guessing what you're looking for every 2 or 3 letters ...

I'm sure Steve, the current head of Colonial, would be shocked to learn his family's business went under before he took over.
Colonial is still a going concern. At least it was August 15, 2020 +/- a day or two when I last visited their website.
They are still making their (allegedly) US military issue Parachute Troops automatic knife.
(Sorry, I don't recall how to spell Steve's last name.)

No he won't be shocked. He knows the business failed in 1998, and the he resurrected it in 2001. (Or started a new one with a similar name.)

Being US made would pretty much rule out the novelty knife co as it's just a name created /owned by SMKW and the knives were made by Colonial.

BTW these are not coming from that particular place in Tenessee.

Paolantonio. He's Roberts cousin.

They look like Utica to me. I'll dig up a couple of mine to compare.
[Looks like I have only one Utica advertising jack. Their advertising pens are better done than this. Bear in mind this was a factory second.]

I'm shocked by the flat-backed blades, coming from Utica.

Smith and Wesson on the tang, so I only know this is a Utica because I got it in the factory store on Noyes Street.

You nailed it, the USA stamp on the back is a dead ringer.

I don't know why I didn't really consider Utica, they crossed my mind but I didn't really consider them for some reason.

Btw you didn't derail the thread, that Mac tools advertising pen is pretty cool and you provided further proof.
There are Winchester pens available as well, but only in these assembled collector sets probably because they don't have enough to sell them on their own.

Thanks.
Utica has a low profile, maybe because so much of their business is making knives with other people's names on them.

Yeah, my first Utica was a Klein electrician and the Kutmaster didn't say Utica on it.
Then theres the multinaster multitool I've got branded for Armstrong tools, contract production definitely seems to be their bread and butter.
