I have 1984 CV medium stockman with the "new grind" blades. I looove it but the scales' coloration do not match each other. The scales are original but over time one has gotten ALOT darker (almost greenish/brown) while the other is still the original amber bone color. Can I dye, or do something, to the lighter colored one to make them match a little better. They do not have to come out perfectly matching, just "close". A good old home remedy would be appreciated. I know it should not bother me but it drives me crazy. Help....
Thanks in advanced.

Case has been known, on occasion, to do some refurb work on older knives sent to them by users. Before attempting a 'home recipe' fix on your knife, it might be worth asking them if they could do this job for you. It may entail a fee for their service but, who knows? They might be able to help you out. At the very least, they might be able to give you some advice on how to get it done, if they're not willing to do it. Never costs anything to at least ask, right?

Edited to add:
By the way, I've been reading a little bit about dying bone. Seems most of the 'recipes' call for some sort of 'cooking' of the bone, for an extended length of time, with a mix of dye & vinegar (or some other acid). This might be difficult to do without removing the scales from your knife. That's why I think you might benefit with some professional assistance.

Show us pictures of both sides.
If I can't tell you how to dye it, I can do it myself.

Thanks for the replies so far. Unfortunately I am unable to post pics. Could someone tell me where to get the materials and steps needed for the fix? Making both scales darker would be fine with me.

Heat will damage the bone. Most bone is dyed with potassium permanganate.
