Hello all
Kinda new to ESEE Knives and I'm wondering if you expect to see the blade and handle colors extended to the entire line (ie. orange scales on a junglas, green blade on a esee 6...). I've got a thing about sets and currently there really isnt a color combo that is universal for the entire line(black/black is close but i believe the machete is only offered with brown scales?). I really like the orange scale/green blade combo but it only seems to be offered on the esse3/4. I'd like a complete set with these colors if possible.
Like I said I'm new so correct me if Im wrong.
Thanx

From what I understand there isn't a crazy amount of color combinations as each color combo would have a different sku/catalog/inventory number. All these numbers would make paperwork confusing and a hassle. From time to time there comes about something special like the orange Junglas being raffled for the BF membership drive (look in the announcements). Just keep in mind that the color of your knife will not affect the performance.

So, I take it you're a collector?

Anybody with more than two or three blades is a collector in my eyes:D
I do use all my blades however I just like sets in general, knives or otherwise.

I am aware that color doesnt affect performance:confused:, but they are offered in more than one color arent they?
If Im paying for it Id like the choice If possible.

Take a look at the ESEE website and gander through the photo thread. You will see all the combos that are available. Maybe somebody would like to make a list of every variation for this thread, but that is not me.
Knife Connection also offers some custom handles and blade combos. So there are some options that might suit your taste and give it a personal touch.

I have looked at the site and am aware of what is currently offered. I need nobody to list them for me here. I was inquiring as to whether the line would be expanded at some point to include more combos.

As for custom handles that is an option and I thank you for the above referance. Ill take a look now and see what they have.

I believe part of the reason for there not being a full mix of color combinations is that it just increases the number of product SKUs that ESEE has to handle. Having additional variations of each model begins to increase that exponentially.

This is going back to 5th grade math so I don't remember the particulars but if there are 3 blade colors and 3 handle colors and you can have any combo of each, that makes 3x3=9 SKUs per model. Add in with that 3 sheath colors and that makes 3x3x3 so 27 SKUs for each model.

So call it 27 SKU variations x 6 different models would be 162 SKU numbers that ESEE would have to inventory and keep track of.

I agree with you to an extent. I'd like to see black blade with canvas micarta scales offered in every model. But then, some would like to see orange/black or OD/black, or OD and canvas micarta. I don't blame you for wanting to see more variations but the question is where would the madness end? :D

We may add an SKU here or there in the future but no plans as of right now. Any new SKU will be a new product or new steel, such as stainless steel. Appreciate you using our knives though!

I have to say they new scale options Dale at the Knife Connection offers for the 3 & 4 are a great add on. I got the brown and black for my 4 in DT for Christmas and it looks and feels great. I am really pleased. I think they plan on doing more for other modles too. I would love a set for my 6. It is nice to see they have them on the ESEE site too so people can check them out. Plus the way they show them with each color blade is great.

To find out all the combos look at the ESEE site and the various dealers sites.

By the way, I think most people that post here are both ESEE collectors and addicts. I love to see some of these guys collections, it makes me feel like I am not thaaaaaaaat addicted to the ESEEs. But I am.

Thanx alot guys. Looks like I'll have to either go the custon route or just sit tight and hope something pops up. That wont stop me from picking up some peices now however, just would be nice if i could get a matching set.

The only way to go matching on the entire line, takes a bit of juggling. It's only possible with black blade, and canvas micarta.

Available with canvas on black- izula, izula II, 3-mil, 5, Junglas.

For the 4 , you have to buy one with canvas and swap it, or find someone who went custom and is getting rid of a set. (off a 3 or 4)

For the 6, it's a simple matter of getting a 5 and trading scales.

The lite machete has a brown canvas that is unique.

I think the last time we counted there were already over 40 knife "setups" in the line....
