Noticed a Colorado Cutlery, CO-1 Hunter at Longs Drugs this evening.

1095 steel, black linen micarta handle. Pretty nice really. $47. I see it online for about $31. I'm told this is the old "Western Cutlery" company.

Any opinions on this knife, or 1095 in general?

Mike

Hey, is that the Long's on Centennial or over in Old Colorado City?

The Colorado Cutlery gang bought a bunch of the equipment from the old Boulder Western Cutlery plant when it shut down. Last I heard they were located in Berthoud (South of Loveland). They used to have a website at coloradocutlery.com, but it stopped working a couple years ago. A couple years back there were some good reviews of the Colorado Cutlery hunting knife on BF. You might try a search on the archived Knife Reviews and testing forum.

I ordered one with a stag handle at a great price on the web a couple years ago, but the dealer could never get the knife. I think there must have been some major change a couple years ago. It's nice to see they're still around.

Michael Aos,
I've seen those and wondered about the quality. The price is certainly good, and the designs look good in pictures. What did you think about the overall workmanship? Did it have a decent edge geometry? How about the sheath?
