My friend and I headed back up to catch a few more Trout and try for some fatwood. The stump I was excited about kicked my butt. I got some small fatwood pieces but it was so hard to chop it. I spent an hour chopping with the BK9 to make that small hole. My trail hawk and BK3 were very infective compared to the BK9. I had Becker tennis elbow the day after this. Ice and tylenol.. ouch. All better now though. I had have better luck finding fatwood in branches. I'm going to let this stump rot for a few more years before I think about messing with it again.
I saw some downed pine trees further up the hill I am going to check out better next time for some easier fat wood. I also found a dead pine tree with a bunch of sap on it. Enough to fill a large Altoids tin so I still had a pretty good score.
Caught some trout and enjoyed another beautiful day in the Colorado Mountains.
I made a video of the river while there. I love the sound of the water and wanted to hear it later. I made a YouTube video and added some pictures from my 2 trips there if anyone wants to see it.
A big rock I store by backpack under while fishing. I could lay under there if I needed a temp shelter.
Fun little swimming hole here. About 4 feet deep with a sandy bottom. Great place to cool off.
Fishing with my feet in the water. Feels great.
My friend chopping with a BK9. He was very impressed.
A cool rock covered in lichen.
Before picture of the stump.
This guy stopped by and really liked the Beckers too.
Here we go.
Dead pine tree covered in sappy goodness.
This is what I collected, full can of it.
The fatwood I brought home from the stump. I have better fatwood to use so Im going to put this away and let it dry for a while.
Here is my YouTube video if anyone wants to see it. I'm learning how to make youtube videos so dont expect too much.
