Coloring G-10

So I'm in the market for a Spyderco Dodo. Specifically a Black PE one. Which I'm discovering are impossible to find. I've had half a dozen places bail on me. Which brings me to the point. Some places have the blue ones available still. I want this knife bad enough I'm thinking of getting the blue instead. I wanted the black because it just goes better with clothes and is a little less conspicuous.

My question is if there is any way to color the blue G-10 to black that won't look cheap and has good wear resistance? I'm willing to put some elbow grease into this project so if I need to hand paint it with a fine brush, that suits me but I don't even know what paint to use. Anybody give me a hand?

Paint will come off. The color on G 10 goes all the way through the material.

Well nowadays the black plain edge is all but extinct. Trust me I've looked at dozens of online retailers and the half dozen that said they had them online don't when you actually order or ask them. Go figure. But if you know where I can find a black one, I'm all eyes and ears.

The "online retailer" stock situation is common, unfortunately.

Have you asked over at the Spyderco forum (here and company)?

In the end, though, I'd recommend just watching the bay, the for sale/trade here, and anywhere else you can think of.

"Patience is a virtue" and "all things come to those who wait" and such.

If enough of you who want the black will call Spyderco and tell Customer Service, they might possibly do a short run of the black, again. Heck, call out there and ask to speak to Sal, and tell him. He IS the boss, afterall......But, don't even attempt to dye the blue.
