I have some nice pieces of Red Deer Antler. The only problem is it is bleached white, by weathering I suppose. Is there any reliable way of getting some colour back into it.

We just discussed this on the knifelist. Some folks said use leather dye, and others said put some alcohol in coffee grounds and mix it up good, then put the stag or bone in the mix for a while.

Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!

Buzzards gotta eat, same as worms!!!

I like to rub Kiwi shoe polish into stag while heating it above the electric burner on the stove. Be sure it gets hot enough to flow the polish. Try it you will like it. Bruce

Geoff,
You might try some potassium permanganate.
I buy mine at the aquarium/fish/pet store.
It is used to remove cloudiness and neutralizes iron in aquarium. "jungle" brand is sold as "CLEAR WATER".
