Has anyone owned/held a Colt AO with rollinglock? I saw one in a magazine for $29, but I don't know if it is worth it. Is the AO strong like Camillus or weaker like SOG? How's the blade quality and overall f/f? Please let me know what you think.

Have not seen the Colt yet, but most of the other Colts are not good quality....as for the Sogs...i have two Twitch IIs, two blinks and two Flash IIs all open quickly almost as well as my four Heats, two Blazes and one sizzle.....I don't find the Sogs slow at all, but the Bucks, they are slow......I have six of them and one is just passing on speed the other five are slow....

That's strange, every SOG that I have tried(about 5) especially the Flash series are slow, and barely open the blade all of the way, but I heard they were designed to be that way. That is the only reason I don't own a SOG.

I haver a Colt AR-15-K AO knife with Rockloc. Can't tell you about any others, but I can tell you that this is not the best knife in the world by far. Slower opening than my Kershaw by far, blade and build quality is just so-so for its price range, non-reversable/switchable clip, and the Rockloc system isn't the best design I've ever used.

If you can get on really cheap, why not, but otherwise, save your money.

BJE....I can only judge bt the six I own, but they are all quick opners ( Sogs)...I have five kershaw AOs ...they are all fast

What kinds do you have? I want to get a SOG, but I havn't found one that I liked yet. Do you like the Blink or twitch? How about the Flash (Zytel)?

The original assisted opening folder was designed by Ken Onion and produced by Kershaw. The others are a rip off of Ken's design. :barf:

BJE...as for the Sogs...i have two Twitch IIs, two blinks and two Flash IIs all open quickly ..there is your answer.....I was given a blink by my son and it was really fast..that made me look at the others. The six I have all open fast. The ones I got all came from Dicks Sporting goods.....Blink $30. Twitch II $40, and Flash II $50

I bought the Colt AR15 RockLoc a few months ago from SMKW, I paid $29.00 (you can get a blue or red version for $24.00).

Ironically, I almost purchased one from the Sportsman’s Guide for around $50.00.

I agree with the above comment, if you can get it cheap it’s not a bad knife. I wanted to try a knife made by United in the USA.

The mechanism is pretty neat, but I like gadgets so it keeps me interested. The lock mechanism actually becomes part of the spring that propels the blade. I wrote a review after I bought it and at the time my general feeling was mixed, but worth 30 bucks. The blade was not too sharp when I got it and I had a hard time sharpening it, but eventually got it reasonably sharp. For some reason it’s hard to get a comfortable grip on the knife when opening it up. The A/O is not the fastest but it’s sufficient.

The overall fit and finish is not bad and to be honest I like it more now than I did when I first bought it.

I have two SOG knives a Blink and a Flash II (Aluminum), both are faster than the Colt, the Blink is the faster of the three.
