Does anyone know if the thumb stud on the colt cobra is reversible or removable? If it's threaded then I assume it can be removed if pressure fitted then I assume it would be difficult to remove. I am lefty and use the kicker instead of the stud.

Hey Lefty....

If I may make a suggestion..

If it says Colt, S&W, Walther on it,,Stay away from it altogether....

It's sad that these companies with a Long proud history cheapen their names by selling them to companies who make Crap....

In my opinion these knives aren't worth the steel they are made from...

If Sam Colt seen what they were doing with his name he'd be Spinning in his grave...

Go grab a Spyderco, Benchmade or numerous other high quality brands..

Its true-they are really bad knives. I had a colt and it was dull, out of the box the liner lock went all the way to the other side of the tang and this caused it to have a ton of play. It was just an unsafe knife. Do yourself a favor and buy a Spyderco, Benchmade, CR, or even an inexpensive Buck Or CRKT. You will not regret it.

Hey Lefty, hang in there, maybe you will actually get an answer to your question :)

Anyways, I gotta agree, in the past most of those knives have been of pretty poor quality. However, the new issue of Tactical Knives has a report on them. I have no idea where my new copy went, didnt even get to read much of it. Im going to get another copy today, so if you dont have an answer by tonight, I will browse the article and see if they comment on the thumb stud.

Add Springfield Armory to that list... i've got an M6 Scout Knife that more or less came free with a previously bought 1911-A1, the gun was mediocre and the knife sucks... Emerson coming soon! :)

Got the magazine. Doesnt say anything about being able to reverse it.

Richard,
Thanks for looking up the article. Just looking at the stud it looks like its there for good. For those who have trashed this knife I will give my 2 cents worth. I bought the plain edge tando and it came razor sharp out of the box. The blade was a bit tight probably to appease customs with the gravity thing. Once broken in it snaps into place and locks up solid with the lock centered on the blade. I like the blade design however it’s a little early to tell how it will hold an edge its 440 something. So far my only concern is the pocket clip. They really have a bad design the screw that holds the clip also is used to tighten the blade tension. Well after several in and outs of the pocket the screw becomes loose and the clip wiggles maybe its designed that way not sure. The clip can be removed that would solve the issue or maybe a little lock tight would help. Reading the other posts of a dull blade and lock off centered maybe they got their act together or they messed up and produced a good one. Well so far I am happy with the knife the quality is good for the price. It’s not a benchmade but neither was the price.

P.S. Were can I find that article

Just an update to my question. I called united cutlery today and they said the stud screws into the blade however they were wrong its pressure fitted and can be removed with a pair of vicegrips just wiggle back and forth until it comes off. Since i am a lefty i had no use for it and its now gone less things to snag in my pocket. Also i added lock tight (blue medium strength) to the blade tension screw so that it won't come loose maybe united cutlery will do the same someday !!!. They should look at the camillus edc which i think did it right where the tension screw is seperate from the pocket clip. Other than that i am still happy with the knife for the price....
