I just got my hands on four Colt knives. Model # CT-3,CT-4,CT-5,CT-6. they are numbered XXX out of 500. They are first production 1994 and are engraved. Anyone know anything about these???? Value? Rarity??? etc.

Regular members are not allowed to ask about rarity/value. Also, posting a picture / pictures will help.

ok, sorry about that, i actually do not care about the value as i would never sell them, they are great looking knives i just don't know anything about them. i don't think i am allowed to upload pics yet.

How are they? I've often been told that if a knife has a gun company name on it, it's probably not great quality. Those don't look half bad though.

They are very well made, nice weight to them, brand new never sharpened so the edges are great, very sturdy. They were manufactured by united cutlery,i really dontknow anything else about them

United Cutlery isn't a terribly well-respected maker of usable knives. They're more a maker of display stuff

That's only partially true. Hecker and Koch knives are made by Benchmade. SIG, Remington and Browning have all had knives made by Fox Cutlery. There are even some nice Colt Knives that were made by Eickhorn Solingen, an old-school and very well respected German knife maker.

You do have to do some research to get a good one, though and you'll most likely be paying some decent coin for it as well.

I know that these are not supposed to be "good" knives, but I've used a CT-6 (the one with the guthook) some and it seemed to work well. For what it is worth.
