Colt fixed blade?

Your definition of "inexpensive" would help with suggestions. What's the max you'd be willing to pop, and do you have blade size preference? ;)

I do not have any experience with that one, but I'm guessing that It's not that great of a knife. The steel is listed as 440, which is undoubtably 440a, which will not hold a great edge. Besides, Colt knives are made by United Cutlery, who are not known for quality products. May I recommend perhaps one of the Becker line?

I don’t know if the knife you are interested is a good one, but James is right that United’s reputation fro quality is not that good. You will generally do better with something from Buck or Camillus in that price range.

Assuming you are looking for a small to medium sized sheath knife with wood scales that costs around $35, you might want to consider something like this -

I would also recommend a Becker over one of the Colt offerings. As James said, Colt doesn't produce it, United Cutlery does. If you're hoping for the same type of quality seen in a Colt pistol you'll be very disappointed. Ka-Bar also offers some nice fixed blades.

Thanks for the advice guys; especially Frank. That Western Mountaineer (Camillus) looks like a much better knife and exactly what I'm looking for:cool:
