Hi. I wanted to know what you all know about the quality of Colt knives. I have the opportunity to purchase a Model CT-26 at a very reasonable price, but do not know much about Colt knives. It is a very large, very cool knife. What do you all think? P.S. - It is brand-new in the box.

Thanks!

I have no knowledge about the knife you are referencing but I do have one Colt knife. I bought a M-16K about 1.5 years ago at a gun/knife show in Tulsa. The knife I have is a double action auto, similar to the Colt AR15 knife.

When I first bought it I thought I had a deal at $60. After just a few weeks of carry, the coating on the aluminum handles started to flake off the pocket clip pretty bad. I never liked the blade geometry, I've never gotten it as sharp as I want. It's a lockback so think of that what you will. When I bought it, the point of the blade stuck up above the end of the handle when closed. Not a good thing when you like your pockets with only one hole. Turns out the leaf spring was pushing the blade up a little. Fixed that after about 3hours of puzzlement. After fiddling with it for awhile I've got it to the point that it opens and locks every time, something that it didn't do when I got it. All in all I'd say that I like it despite all the things I've found wrong. I don't feel like I got hurt on the buy but I've heard other people complain about the QC of Colt's knives to. On a scale of 1-10 with Microtech as a 10 and gas station knives as 1, I'd give it a 6.5. But that's just my opinion. Take it with a grain of salt.
