:foot: I meant to post here, but I screwed up. What I wanted to know was that if anybody has or knows anyone that has a Colt Stag Damascus bowie because I am looking to buy one at Smoky Mountain Knife Works, but I want to know if it is just for a safe queen or is it functional out in the woods. Thanks for any and all replies.:D

What are the features you like about this knife and what are your intended uses?

I don't have one of these Colt bowies, but if I were looking for a bowie style knife in this price range, I would probably buy a Buck 119 - time tested knife in the outdoors with a known steel.

The Colt you are inquiring about is made in Pakistan. You would be much off with the Buck 119 mentioned above or a Becker BRKR7.

:o I would like to use it as a trail and/or camp knife. For building a shelter and for clearing brush and other camp duties.:D

In all fairness, any knife can be broken, but personally I would put much more trust into a Buck.

That is just me.

Doc

Of the two I'd take the Buck, I think it is a better knife. The Colt may well be tougher but to my mind that tells me little about what it is like as a knife. A splitting wedge would be tougher too.

I wouldn't trust anything made in Pakistan, its turning into the new China. I've got a Buck 119 I've used it for dressing a kill, carving and hacking at wood. I do warn you though Buck is having some of there knives made in china so when you look at the package make sure it has an American flag on it and that how you know it was made in the U.S. otherwise its made in China.
