NIB Columbia Cathedral Peak Hiking Staff / Knife -- Never used, carried or sharpened. I've had it out of the box just to make sure it was all there, but that's it.

Here's Columbia's ad for the Staff and a catalog picture, but a couple of other facts first. With the blade deployed, OA length with the saw blade is about 17 inches. OA length with the knife blade is about 13 1/2 inches. The factory box is a little natty from being shipped.

Here's the Columbia verbage ... The Columbia Cathedral Peak Hiking Staff that adjusts from 40" to 57" overall to fit persons of most any height. This Columbia Staff is packed with outdoor use tools perfect for hiking or camping. The anodized extruded aluminum shaft has a rubber tip and removable composite handle with built-in compass, waterproof storage, adjustable wrist strap, and interchangeable saw and knife blades. The saw blade is housed inside the shaft, and the 420 stainless steel knife blade has a FRN sheath that clips onto the staff.

can the knife be housed inside the shaft?
how is the knife or saw deployed?...screw out?
i would be purchasing this for my wifes walks in the mountians...a little something more than pepper spray. will this deploy and work for such a purpose? if so i'll take it.

Sorry for the lack of an earlier response. One of the other guys spoke up for it yesterday afternoon via email, so it is sold. If you're looking for one of these the knife / or saw screws out. These have been discontinued, but a few stores still have them. I suspect you can easily find one for between $45-50 plus shipping on the net.
