Gen 1 Mk 4 C BUG Hawks, Comanche Style. Retractable Lanyards and Paracord Overstrike Protection.

regrettably, the camera flash picked up a little reflection off of the jet black heads, making them look milky.

they look pristine in person.

vec, what is the white 'core' running the length of the haft (inside of the haft)? Fiberglass???

I like the way the area is shaped under the 'chin' of the front edge...

the part you see is Excelon Polycarbonate. There are other structural materials that are part of the endoskeleton. the Exoskeleton has a few materials in it too.

I am always experimenting with structure variances and materials to milk the physical properties and to add functionality to the handles, but i really love the polycarbonate mixed with the other structural factors, as a system.

thanks.

i call that the Shark's Tooth, brother. i really like those too.

i have always liked beards on the hawks, but sometimes they zap my hand. the Shark's Tooth lessens that possibility, for me anyways, and it adds some advantages for both field work and various combatives styles, plus you can mod the Shark's Tooth into some neat things. personalize it.

Sweet as usual.

Although the color scheme isn't for me, especially the one with the orange cord wrap -- although I see the utility of it if you throw like me, and wizz that brown and black hawk off into the woods. . .

Looking at the shorter ones. . .is there any historical precedent for guys carrying a few short hawks to throw and a long one to hold on to and fight?

I like the orange... hence why I asked for it, I got bit by the orange bug earlier this year, and how else can you bit a bug better than getting a bug? Cant wait for it to get here Vec, thank you... just got my email from Erica. It will look good with its little brother. Thanks again for everything.

EDIT to add, Vec, I have a small gift for you from my last short overseas. Do you want it sent to the return address on the package or other address... email me and let me know.

i don't know. good question, brother.

when i hold a shorter hawk in my throwing hand, and a long hawk in my other hand, i get pretty excited though.

sometimes i suspect that that feeling is our ancestors talking to us through our genes or something; we hit a sweet spot.

Not criticizing, my friend, just not my thing. I see its use though.

Doesn't matter what I like, it matters what you like.

What I like is tigerstripe, and one of those is on its way to me.

Muhahahahahah!

No worries no offense or criticizing. I think the tigers are pure sex. Cant wait to see yours, sure you will post it for our pleasure.

No its cool I have a few hundered feet still. I asked ericka if you needed some for the hawk when I asked for the unique color. Thanks for the offerings however. So be it small, I am sure U2 will get a kick out of whats coming your way.

I think the the black wrapped diamond stadia is mine- just got my notice from Erica! Looks well worth the wait! I've been thinking about a shorty ever since I saw the Bug head and now that I see one, I know what's next on the list.

Do these come with the plugs? Also, is there a reason for the blind top on the shorty, or just something different?

I really like the way you blend up-to-the-minute technology and creativity with something so primitive and traditional. It reminds me of Ed Fowler's knives- but he goes traditional on the handle and high tech with the blade (although I guess with the Bug heads youre getting around to the blade too now).

Way "outside the box" and way cool- keep up the good work!

yep, that's your Diamond Stadia, brother.

sorry it took so long to get that good Comanche color material back in. it is really good stuff IMHO.

the plugs are on order, we will have them for ya, don't worry. make sure you crank them down a little if you take them out and put them back in. a good smack of the hawk makes them shoot out and kill cats. 'just awful. something about hawks and felines....

the blind end just gives the hawk a lower profile on top, while still allowing storage for your Tequila ...er! - firestarter! inside the hawk, on the Dirty Little Comanche BUG. the cap is made to be drilled right through so you can make it a true Through Tube at any time, you just have to be careful doing it, going right down the center of the tube with a small drill bit, then cleaning it out to the circumference of the inside of the tube with a rat tail file or something similar. the cap material shapes beautifully, but it is tough to bore out by hand. i haven't standardized the end caps yet - i've got something hard core i want to do on them.

i am doing this spiral kinda thing with the handle development - separating designs, then hybridizing them at the next level - the short one is close to what i want for the Sectionals top section, so eventually i hope to have all the hawk heads be removable from other handle sections while keeping a useful length of haft integral to them, so you always have a no BS hatchet handy, without construction involved.

i also want to add some other goodies to the hawks - a lot of goodies actually, but only useful features. and maybe a Death Ray. just one Death Ray....:o:thumbup:

enjoy your Diamond Stadia Gen 1 Mk 4 C BUG, brother.

i absolutely love it.

I'll tease you the way I'm being teased. . .

According to Saint Erica, mine is the "Long, tall drink of water in the middle."

DAMMM:eek: That is ART my friend. What is the length on that bad boy I already have a 19 and 24, think I want a longer and a short one like above but in tiger stripe.... guess I will be ordering another pair Vec, will be a few weeks since I just dropped some serious coin on some new cold/ wet weather gear for the winter... Arcteryx LEAF alpha pant and jacket, some Fleeces, a TAD jacket, some gloves, boots, watchcaps, smartwool base layers.... My credit union called to make sure I was authorizing the reduction of my checking account... nice that they did that so Im on hold for a pay check or two, but you'll be getting more money.

I like an all black hawk... would that make me a Gothic-Scandanavian???

i have a herd of black BUGs that i need to make, brother - maybe i'll toss an extra in there to tempt you.

....

brother spoolup - you got some great gear - my bank account hurts just thinking about that selection, that must cost so much, but it always pays to get the best. smart of you IMHO.
