I have a mid-70's Colt Combat Commander (Traditional 1911 style) chambered in 9mm. This is a great firearm, however, I have to constantly clean the metal, as it tends to green very easily. I am storing it in a cool dry place, in a Pelican case, and do not experience this problem with any of my other firearms or knives.
The point of this post, is that I want to have some custom work done to this firearm. First I want it to be de-burred for concealed carry, then I want to have the gun coated/finished in something like Armor Tuff or DuraCoat, Matte Black. Then I want to have a Beavertail Grip Safety, Ultralight Hammer (Skeletonized), Trigger job, and Novak type night sights. Also, possibly having the ejector port lowered.

Does anyone have any reccomendations for a shop to do all of this, and at reasonable prices? I love Wilson Combat, but you pay for having a firearm customized with the Wilson name.

I have used Black T coatings on my 38 super carry colt for several years and it seems to be excellent. It's a teflon coating and needs no lubricating unless you use it a lot like taking to the range for 50-100 rnds. but for concealed carry no lub is needed. It does take up space 1-3 thousands so it may take breaking in after if your gun is very tight.

He doesn't have a web site but here is the address

Hey Sabre, I have a old-model Wilson Combat "Protector" model .45 ACP and it is, without a doubt, the most accurate and reliable 1911 I have ever owned--I even traded-in a Kimber in order to swing the financing to buy this pistol which was nearly 2K and that was about 8 years ago. I alos have a Scattergun Tech/Wilson "Border Patrol" 12 gauge and it's workmanship and function are immpecable as well. There are a LOT of good quality, big-name gunsmiths out there (Les Baer, Ed Brown are a couple that come to mind quick) and I have also heard great things about their work. Anyway, I just thought I'd throw my opinion in the ring and give a vote of confidence to WC. They have always treated me very well and that .45--well I'll just repeat Heston: "From my cold dead hands!" Good luck in your customizing job. It sounds like you've got a great pistol to start with! Best Regards--Jim Falor SEMPER FI
