My wife broke down and gave me an early Christmas present in the form of a Combat Elite Rapid Response Folder, also known as RRF. It's been my EDC for a couple of weeks now and I was wondering about other readers experience with the brand.
So far I can tell you this. The knife seems very well made from the partially serrated 3.375 inch SV30 blade to the finish on the framelock titanium bolsters. The knife is small enough to not be frightening when used around those who still equate knife carrying with "West Side Story." However the company does include a lanyard and on the knife side of the lanyard is a stop in the form of a small skull. Sort of a mixed message in my opinion.
The action of the knife is where it truly shines. Out of the box, or plastic bag as it were, it is easily one of the best one hand knives I've used. I find myself dissassembling many of my folders to increase their smoothness and this knife needed nothing. Very confidence inspiring. As I mentioned, it's packaging was a plastic bubble wrap bag which lead my wife to present it early in case I thought it was junk. The dealer has since told me his distibutor has done this to him before. If I were giving this as a gift I would want the presentation to be Much better. I have seen this knife listed at over 200 dollars and bubble wrap ain't getting it done.
After I've used the knife more I'll advise of any problems but as of now, I'm pretty impressed.
