My wife broke down and gave me an early Christmas present in the form of a Combat Elite Rapid Response Folder, also known as RRF. It's been my EDC for a couple of weeks now and I was wondering about other readers experience with the brand.

So far I can tell you this. The knife seems very well made from the partially serrated 3.375 inch SV30 blade to the finish on the framelock titanium bolsters. The knife is small enough to not be frightening when used around those who still equate knife carrying with "West Side Story." However the company does include a lanyard and on the knife side of the lanyard is a stop in the form of a small skull. Sort of a mixed message in my opinion.:D

The action of the knife is where it truly shines. Out of the box, or plastic bag as it were, it is easily one of the best one hand knives I've used. I find myself dissassembling many of my folders to increase their smoothness and this knife needed nothing. Very confidence inspiring. As I mentioned, it's packaging was a plastic bubble wrap bag which lead my wife to present it early in case I thought it was junk. The dealer has since told me his distibutor has done this to him before. If I were giving this as a gift I would want the presentation to be Much better. I have seen this knife listed at over 200 dollars and bubble wrap ain't getting it done.

After I've used the knife more I'll advise of any problems but as of now, I'm pretty impressed.

CONGRATUALTIONS!! You got yourself an AWESOME knife!! I have asked for one for Christmas myself. It is made by Darrell Ralph & Ryan Wilson, they are Combat Elite! Since Darrell had a hand in it, I KNOW it will be an excellent knife!! I am glad that you like it. I asked for a green handled and black black Maxx inserts, and manual. Is your maual or assisted?

i was in the passaround and liked the knife well enough to get one of my own!  also met darrel and found him to be a number one guy!

So I guess it had pretty good reviews. Thanks for the feedback. I have the model that you are looking for to the T' TKC. And it's assisted. Green with black inserts, the whole deal. I'm not sure if the wave mechanism would be as effective on an unassisted version as it is somewhat small and angled and I could see it being difficult to get the proper flip with it. What I liked most was how the assist doesn't fight me as much as some of my other EDC's do when closing the knife. Wade, as soon as I can figure out how to attach a photo, I'll be happy too. Until then "Tactical Knives" magazine reviewed it with some great photos and background. As TKC said, it's built by Ralph and Wilson who essentially are Combat Elite. I left the article open around the house for a couple of days and my darling Jane took the bait. No more Swiss army knives for Christmas.

Again, Thanks for the feedback. I'll tell Jane the big wild wet one is on it's way.

That's what I thought.

Sharp out of box!! what are you talking about?? RRF don't have a box yet! I am not sure about now. What i got doesn't have packaging box, unless you want to count USPS box. No packaging is the only thumbs down for me considering spending ~$190.

I must say, such great knife. nice flip, nice thumb stund action, sharp blade, awsome finish, what more can ou want from a knife? I was found by the unique design of the knife. The handle, the color....it is THE only time that i actually love a knife with black coat. A lot of people says it is sebenza alike. Well, i own a sebenza, yet, RRF has its own style. RRF isn't alike any knife, it has its own strong character. more i think about RRF, i might say personally i love RRF over sebenza. The feel of the handle is a real killer. That is not something sebenza can compare.

So much goodness about this knife design. The end, no packaging, no biggy. A knife anyone should give a try.

NO, Pilot, I don't think it ever ends. At least I didn't have to pay for this one. It gives me more money to blow at my local dealer. Merry Christmas to all. I hope you get the blade you want. I wonder if Santa ever cuts himself.
