If you had to chose between the non-asssisted RRF or BM Rukus what would you get?

I already have the RRF(non-assisted) but was considering getting the Rukus if it has any better advantages. Thanks for your input.

The only advantages of the Rukus over the RRF that I can see are that the Rukus is larger, clumsier, and uglier.

Oh, and its designer can't spell. :p

I would get the RRF becuz it is proly slighty better quality and I just don't need a folding knife the size of the Rukus right now.

Combat Elite RRF. I have the assisted version and really like it.

Combat Elite RRF. It is a very well built, and solid!! I think the RRF is the PERFECT size for EDC. And the RRF is built by Darrell Ralph. The Rukus is a big, solid and beefy knife!!

It's a close call, but only because I like the axis a lot....but if you can do without the axis lock, the combat elite knives look really cool. I sort of see them as super high end M16s.

The RRF is a nice folder but I prefer the Rukus because of its size and lock and it feels great in the hand.

I just got my Rukus last week, so I guess that is your answer. Combat Elite are too over-priced for what you get. I have their catalog as i was considering buying one. I was told there was a waiting period as they cannot keep up with orders. I am not real fond of waiting periods.

I'd get both, but I would get the Rukus first. In fact, that is what I did. I have a Rukus on the way and a RRF is on my to-buy list.

I wanted the Rukus more because it is bigger (and I like big folders- I wear jeans and a belt so the Rukus isn't too big for me), and looks a lot better (the RRF looks like cheesy tactical to me while the Rukus looks unique).

The advantage of the RRF, however, is that it is smaller (which can sometimes be a good thing).

I don't want to sound like I am bashing the RRF. I want one, so obviously I think it is cool. But to be contrary to Esav's comments....

Oh, and its designers can't pick a name that doesn't sound cheesy as hell.

Honestly though, both knives should be great (never handled an RRF, but I know the Rukus is good), so get both. You have an RRF, so get a Rukus. It is a totally different knife, so having both isn't a sin.

I feel that you get a lot of knife with Combat Elite!! I feel it is close to custom, with out being a custom. It is a very smooth knife. To each his/her own.

I have a Rukus, never handled the RRF. But in reading the specs, the RRF is quite a bit smaller. The Rukus is a big, heavy knife, with a handle designed so you can realistically hold it way to the rear, giving you the effective reach of a six inch blade. The RRF may be a great all around knife, maybe even more convenient for every-day jobs due to its smaller size, but if I had to use one or the other for defense (again, only from reading the RRF specs) I'd chose the Rukus, no question.

I handled a rukus the other day and it was a really well built knife. Nice blade and the axis lock is one of the better out there. I like Combat Elite Level 1's more than the RRF, it is really well built also, along with the RRF. I know I'd be happy with either buy nod has to go to the benchmade.

Well that pretty much somes it up. My RRF is my current favorite.
I don't need to hold one to know it looks cheesy. I also don't need to hold one to know it is smaller than I generally prefer a knife to be.

I am sure it is a good knife, but so is the Rukus. I am sure the RRF is very smooth, but the Axis lock is sort of known for that.

I know I cannot completely judge a knife without using it, but I can form an opinion based on its looks and size, and my wants, needs, and preferences.

So, save it. Thanks.

Well.... considering the replies in this thread and other posts I decided to buy the Rukus from newgraham Seems like although I am happy with the RRF, the Rukus has more belly for cutting tasks. Anyhow I like the design and think I will be happy with it as a complement to my RRF. Really want to thank everyone for their input. :)

Well you also mentioned it was "clumsy", which typically means you've used it, but I get your point. It is a small knife with a blade size of only 3.375 inches. It really should't be compared to the Ruckus with a blade length over 4 inches. Different animals IMHO. Beauty and usefullness is in the eye and hands of the beholder.

No worries mate. To each there own and I appreciate your perspective.
